21 Day Fix Steak Dinner

Just because you are on the 21 Day Fix does NOT mean you are limited in your food choices! This dinner is 21 Day Fix approved and super simple!

In my house this was a group effort! I DO NOT trust myself with a grill, its just not going to happen! So, Evan took the steak outside and did his thing, and I took care of the yellow and green containers 😉

The containers look super small, but honestly I had trouble finishing this!!

red container = steak

yellow container= little red potatoes

green container= asparagus

we used versus seasonings and I didn’t use a splash of fresh lemon juice and some EVOO (which is a tablespoon)

How to NOT eat an entire package of Cinnabon almonds in one sitting

We play White Elephant with Evan’s family, and I picked this AWESOME basket full of cheese and spreads and crackers and a tray of Cinnabon cashews and almonds. YUMMMMMM.

So, how do you not eat the entire tray in one sitting, the answer is simple.

cinnabon almonds

Step 1: leave the tray in the kitchen, take a handful.
Step 2: walk to the couch, sit and eat them.
Step 3: get up and walk over to the kitchen to get a second handful!🚶🚶

Eventually you will get sick of having to get up to get more so you will stop eating them  plus of you are going to eat 200+ calories in delicious almonds you might as well burn those 3 calories walking to the kitchen to get more!! Bonus calories burned of you use stairs going back and forth!!

You don’t have to wait until Monday to get started

I don’t now how many times I hear these two phrases. 1. I’ll start tomorrow. 2. I’ll just wait until Monday.

Of course, depending on your self discipline, maybe a Monday is a good plan for you. But what if it isn’t? Did you know that you really don’t HAVE to start on a Monday? Yes, that is right, you heard my loud and clear, you don’t not have to have Day 1 on a Monday.

I think people over look that fact the calendars that come with the programs usually say Day 1, Day 2. Few actually say Monday, Tuesday!

Rev Abs

So here is what I suggest. Start your program on a SATURDAY!! I know cray cray right? But listen to this! What is the hardest part of the week to stay on track? The weekend! Butttt, when are you most motivated to stay on track? Usually the first 3-4 days! Even if your program does state a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday schedule, cross that out and put Saturday above Monday and go from there! Because honestly the DAY you start doesn’t matter, I do recommend that you do the program in the order they trainer has it set up. They do that for a reason, muscle confusion, so you get the best results, as quick as possible, and in a healthy way!

So forget about Monday!! Start whenever you want to!! I bet you will be more likely to finish it! 😉 You are more likely to do what you want, not what someone “tells” you to do :p

No Bakes: Gooey Shakeology Oatmeal Bars

There is just something about chocolate that gives me those little hearts in my eyes and a flutter in my heart!! Or maybe those flutters are the calories marching two by two from my mouth to my thighs. Ehh, either way I am sure I am not the only chocolate and sweets craver out there! I have a mighty strong sweet tooth! I absolutely looove my shakeology, but sometimes drinking it in a shake form doesn’t satisfy that CRAVE of just biting into a piece of chocolate! That is where these babies come in!!

Gooey Shakeology Oatmeal Bars!

  • 4 scoops Chocolate Shakeology (or Vegan Chocolate)
  • 3 cups old-fashioned rolled Oats
  • 1 tsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 dash of ground cinnamon (I dashed two or three time :x)
  • 1 cup non-fat milk
  • 1/2 cup all-natural peanut butter (I like JIF, it doesn’t have all that oil on the top!)
  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • nonstick cooking spray

  • Combine Shakeology, oats, cocoa powder, and cinnamon in a large bowl and mix well.
  • Add milk, peanut butter, and vanilla extract; mix well. At this point I usually start mixing with my hands to make sure that everything is combined and you won’t find a big hump of PB when you take a bite (not that, that is already a bad thing!)
  • Place in an 8×8 in pan, and coat it slightly with the nonstick cooking spray.
  • Cover with plastic wrap and press down to flatten into pan.
  • Refrigerate for 3 hours, then cut into 12 bars.

Makes 12 servings.     |     Serving size: 1 bar each

12 Days of Christmas Gifts for your Man!

12 days of christmas

First off, you will have to excuse the pictures! hahaha I was not blogging at the time, so they are not the BEST quality, plus this was 2 years ago (I think!), so cameras have advanced quite a bit in that time! Now, I came up with this idea and I thought it was BRILLIANT! haha However, I did not think it through, or at least all the bumps I would come across. Especially a huge one, being in a long distance relationship! Which means its is a little hard to give the gifts every day when you only see each other one the weekends. The other little bit of information I failed to make clear to myself was when the 12 Days of Christmas actually takes place!! I just thought that it was the 12 days leading up to Christmas. I thought that was PERFECT! I’ll work backwards and Christmas will be the 1st day, the biggest gift… and then work backwards. Well, that is not really how it works 😡

The REAL 12 Days of Christmas background

Most of you probably know the Christmas Carol, The 12 Days of Christmas. You know “5 GOLDEN RINGGGGGS!!!!”! After doing a little research, aka Wkipedia :p I found that there is no known meaning behind the song!

So Christmas Day is day 1 of the 12 days of Christmas, starting on December 25th! Although, depending on your culture, it might be a tradition to start it the day after Christmas, December 26th, and then continues until January 6th, AKA the Eve of the Epiphany, which is usually the last day of the Christmas season.

One thing I just read that I did not know, was that each gift is said to have significance, representing a food or sport for each month of the year.

How I did the 12 Days of Christmas

First off, we ended up doing all 12 days in ONE day 😡 opps haha my bad! I was away at school, and not doing my research, thought that it should have started on the 14th, the 12 days BEFORE Christmas. That is why in the photos you will see that he is in the same outfit haha!! Plus he DID NOT want his picture taken, so I am sure he will love that this is now a blog post :p So I started with Day 12 and worked my way backwards when presenting the gifts!

Day 12 I had 12 balloons and wrote a reason why I love him on each one!! Here are the 12 I used (remember we weren’t together very long at this point, so they don’t go too too into anything mushy hahaha.)

  1. Reasons why I love you
  2. You make me happy
  3. You make me smile
  4. You always make my day better
  5. Your personality
  6. You are trustworthy
  7. You are funny
  8. Your determination
  9. You are loving
  10. You are the perfect cuddle buddy
  11. You always put others first
  12. Merry Christmas, I love you

For day 11 I made homemade coupons. These were for back massages, full body massages, cook dinner, do laundry, I think I put in some “wild” cards as well!

Day 10 was a scrapbook that I made. It has 10 pages! Each one with a picture and a cute saying!

For day 9 I bought lottery tickets. I bought 9, $5.00 tickets. I can’t remember if he won anything off of those or not. I don’t think he did though 😡

Day 8 gift was a dinner date at 8:00 at a restaurant of his choice! (I don’t have a picture of this one!! I somehow missed it!!)

For Day 7, I did mini EVERYTHING!! Mini flashlight, mini Gin, mini Sprite, mini tool set, mini hand sanitizer, mini Tide to go pen, and mini drinking glass.

Day 6 was I think one of his favorite, a 6 pack of Corona!

For Day 5 I did a winter hat, a scarf, 2 gloves, and hand warmers! Calvin Kline, I might add 😉

The gift for day 4 was presented in a huge popcorn bowl, with 4 different snacks in it.

Day 3 I picked out 3 bottles of wine! Yummmm

For Day 2 I was creative with 2 packages of socks hahahah!!

For the “first day of Christmas” I gifted him with an ice fishing pole!

days 4-1

Organizing my day is as easy as ABCDE!

I may seem like I have it all together sometimes, maybe even most times. But let me tell you, just because I can be super organized in one area of my life, does NOTTTT mean that I am like that in all areas!

1. The guest bathroom is spotless, the master bathroom however could use some serious attention! I even have cute little jars for the bathroom everyone else uses, and Q-tips out of the box for the ones I use! Why? I don’t know! hahaha

2. The refrigerator could deff be more organized, but the wine rack is neatly set up with whites on the left and reds on the right.

3. I have binders and books all over the house, but I know EXACTLY where my coaching binder is, and ALL of those papers and neatly placed inside.

I did a post a while back on how I can easily fall asleep at night, and one of those secrets was my to-do list that I quickly make at night before I go to bed. I am going to tell you right now, there is ABSOLUTELY no way around making a to do list, the only thing you can do is make a BETTER one!

To-do lists are easy, literally besides breathing they should be up there on the easy list! If you don’t know what you need to get done the next day, then maybe you need to reevaluate what you WANT to do each day. I know that sometimes it is hard to know EXACTLY what is going to be happening. I don’t have kids yet, but I know that days don’t always go as planned when you are a parent. Which it totally fine, I am not saying to have every second planned, but you do need A plan! I have always made a list and most of the time got most of it done, but THIS is awesome! I am reading Eat That Frog by Brian Tracy, and he as a ABCDE system. It is just pure genius! I make a little graphic below to map it out for you and just break it down.

ABCDE method

A tasks are your must do. You MUST go to work, otherwise you will get fired, so that needs to be on your list and have an A next to it.

B tasks are the ones you should do,but its okay if you don’t. You will not fall completely behind if you don’t do it. Maybe going through your email 3-4 times a day would be a B task,

C tasks are tasks that you can go without. basically time wasters. Personal business while at work, extended lunch breaks with coworkers, personal phone calls.

D tasks you should delegate to someone else. This is a task that you can outsource and it will still get done, while freeing up YOUR time for your A tasks!

E tasks you can just eliminate right now. Most you will continue to do out of habit, but there are not helping you gain anything in your job. If you get rid of these tasks it will not make a difference in your day

Here is an example of my to do list for TODAY!

The Inside Scoop: 21 Day Fix Extreme

If you have social media or a TV you most likely have heard of the FAMOUS 21 Day Fix program that hit the shelves and didn’t stop for months and months! It was launched in Feb 2014 and was on back order until about April, cray crayyy, right?! Well, it was like that for a reason. Beachbody is known for its amazing at home workout programs. Though they ALL come with a nutrition guide, most people look past it, or only do it 50%. The secret to the 21 Day Fix, in my opinion are two things; 1. portion control is the focus of the program, meaning that you can’t oversee it and 2. it is only 21 days and you see progress SO FAST! Everyone would keep working out if they saw results in as little as 3 or 4 days! I know it was sureee motivation for me 🙂

I did the 21 Day Fix in February, and lost 7 pounds! I honestly wanted to do the program because it was new and exciting, and thought 3 pounds or so would have been nice to lose. But I felt AMAZING! I loved it, and I STILL use the containers daily! I AM ready though to take it up to the next level, and THIS is def my plan! 21 Day Fix Extreme still has 30 minute workouts, and easy portion control, and well, here, I’ll let you watch in amazement!!

Doesn’t that just make you SOOOOOO excited!? I mean, seriously, how can you not want to get in the best shape of your life after watching that video!? There is something about seeing what you body is capable of that gets me so motivated! Is that just me? hahah maybe! 😡

I don’t know about you, but I will be breaking out my 21 Day fix in January and do a round of that, and then Feb 2nd, I WILL BE READY to take on the 21 Day Fix Extreme!! I did put my email in to the collector, because I want to know all I can, I am sure you do too! ARE YOU READY!?

Minty Devil’s Chocolate Cookies

It is the Holiday season and there is not a way around cookies. I have looked high and low, and no matter what, they pop out of everyone’s hands at some point in the season. Of course I won’t complain. I love to stay healthy and on track, but I am human. I will order a cheese steak once in a great while if that is what I am STARVING for. Because if I don’t give in from time to time, you will just be miserable and then go ALL IN and ruin all your hard work! So, I feel the same way about cookies as I do my cheat day cheesesteak.

I like my cookies how I like my healthy recipe, short, sweet and quick!!

When the ingredients list is short, we are all happy!

When we don’t have the chill the dough for 3 days, we are all happy!

When we don’t need to have 7 different bowls going for one recipe, we are all happy!

We made I think 7 different kinds of cookies by the time we were all done. It was a lot of fun, and so cool that we had completely different cookies by the end! Not a single batch were anywhere near the same! We made these, Minty Devil’s Chocolate Cookies, a Peanut Butter Mini muffin type cookie, chocolate chip, a buttery nut one, oatmeal white chocolate chunk and cranberry cookies, no bakes, and molasses. All equally tasty in their own way!!

Okayyyy. I’ll just get to the ingredients now!! 😉

  • 1 box Devil food cake mix
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • dove mint chocolate squares

Directions: Combine all ingredients and scoop tablespoon sized servings onto a non greased baking sheet. Once on the sheet slightly press balls down with your thumb to make a slight indentation. Bake at 350 degrees F for 6-9 minutes! Meanwhile, you can start unwrapping the Dove chocolates so they are ready as soon as the cookies come out of the oven! Once done baking, pull out of the oven and (while still hot) place Dove mint squares onto the center of the cookie! Then ENJOY!!

* When using a tablespoon scooper you should make between 20-24 cookies. (that is what I used)

21 Day Fix Meal Plan and Grocery List

The 21 Day Fix is a pretty awesome program. If you don’t know much about it; someone named Autumn Calabrese came up with everything you need to know to reach your goal weight or body. The key is portion control. You get containers, food lists for each container, and a calorie bracket based on YOUR weight, so you know exactly how much to eat in a day. Simple right? I know, it is pretty amazing! I love MINE, did I mention that? She also had short and sweet 30 min workouts to go along with it, don’t let “short and sweet” fool you though, these can be though! Don’t worry , there is a modifier if needed!!

Even though I love this program and NOW I think it is super duper easy, the first time I tried to make a meal plan I had to read the book THREE TIMES! I came up with a color system and did everything on paper and tried to be extremely organized with it. It did work, but I was not about to do that each week, because I know I am not going to eat the same thing week after week. I know some people can do that, but not me!

So this is what I came up with!

I hosted, and participated in a Challenge group for the 21 Day Fix when it first came out, and it TOTALLY helped me get through the first round! There was something about having a group of people that were on the same journey as me that made it seem really easy and my goals seemed achievable when others were being positive and keeping me on track!

All you have to do is apply for the next group here!
